Alleghany Arts and Crafts is a non-profit co-op, operating a beautiful gallery featuring dozens of talented artists from Northwest NC, Southeast TN and Southwest VA as members of our Gallery.

Mediums range from oil and acrylic paints to fine jewelry, woodwork, fiber arts, sculpture and more.

Featured Artist of the Month
Deb Oliver

An Alleghany County resident since 1990, Deb Oliver brings a lifelong passion for needle and fiber arts to our gallery. Having previously co-owned a local yarn shop and participated as a juried artist in regional showcases like Blowing Rock’s Art in the Park and the Valle Crucis Country Fair, Deb is now happily dedicating her retirement years to mastering her creative craft.

Today, her work centers around knitting and the growing upcycling movement. Deb artfully transforms pre-loved garments into stunning pieces of wearable art using traditional embroidery techniques and sashiko—a traditional Japanese functional embroidery method known for its geometric patterns and decorative stitching. Deb’s items in the Gallery include:

Wearable Art: Custom upcycled denim jackets, vests, and aprons adorned with intricate hand-embroidery for children and adults.

Cozy Hand-Knits: Soft, hand-knitted hats—perfect for cold Blue Ridge winter days.

Custom Orders & Mending: Looking to breathe new life into a favorite item? Deb accepts custom commissions, including custom sashiko visible mending on denim jeans!
