Nancy Morrell – Quilting and Sewing
Nancy Morrell is a retired Occupational Therapist Assistant, mother of three adult children, grandmother to nine grandchildren, and great-grandmother to three! She was born in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, about one hundred miles from Sparta. She has lived in the Northeast United States most of her life, and in Florida for twenty years before retiring. Upon retirement, she and her husband returned to the mountains, within two hours of their son in Boone, NC, and their son and daughter in SC, where they also spend the winter months.
As a child in Virginia, she has fond memories of watching her Grandmother and Aunts hand-quilt beautiful family heirlooms; she was entranced. Her working experience in Occupational Therapy exposed her to using various crafts as therapy for patients to help them achieve their wellness goals.
After her children were grown, she found more time to pursue her love of quilting, sewing, Yoga, reading, dancing, mountain life, and crafting. She enjoys making quilts and being active with the Alleghany Quilt Guild and the York County Quilt Guild in SC. In the past few years, she has become more creative in her quilting and has enjoyed the art and freedom of expression of landscape art and collage quilting, not only as framed art but as unique quilted note cards as well.
