Liz Redding – Acrylics
Liz Redding is a self-taught artist from Laurel Springs, NC who works mainly in acrylics. She had art training as a youth, but put down the paintbrush after college to pursue a career in Information Technology. After retirement in 2015, she picked up the paintbrush and began to explore her creative side again.
Liz is inspired by the colors and patterns she see in mandalas, zentangles and folk art and loves experimenting with different combinations. Many of her works begin with selecting a color palette, and the designs evolve as the piece develops. The detail and precise work of dot mandala painting is very calming and appeals to her technical side, while the freeform nature of zentangles and folk art allows her to be more inventive.
Liz believes that art should be used and enjoyed. Many of her works are upcycled household objects rescued from second-hand stores and flea markets and given a second life.
Her business is called “Lizzitudes – Art with an Attitude”. Her husband coined the name while she was working in corporate America. She often came home stressed and in a bad mood. He would say “Get out of her way – she’s having a Lizzitude!” She very rarely has a “Lizzitude” these days and enjoys her life in these beautiful mountains with her husband and her assistant “Miss Ellie” (pictured).
